ROR-IL is pleased to present Carole Lewke as the 2022 Great Stories award recipient. Carol found her way to Reach Out & Read through the Chicago Public Library. She always loved reading and taught reading for a number of years. She wanted to volunteer with an organization that worked with parents and through a long conversation with Liz McChesney at the Chicago Public Library, she found herself learning about ROR and falling in love with the program. Carol was always involved in parenting and literacy and education organizations and ROR was the perfect vehicle to channel all of her passions! Carol put a lot of energy and time into Reach Out & Read – she still believes the program is such a bargain, works for everybody and is really critical. In her over a decade of service on the board, she connected the organization with partners, supporters (many of them are here tonight) and brought many programmatic ideas to the table. Carol has been such a dedicated volunteer and champion and we’re finally glad we can award her the 2022 Great Stories Award! Congratulations, Carol!
